Reels & Roots is a community-centered film experience that curates independent cinema with soul, screens it with care, and surrounds it with conversation that matters.

We’re based in Indianapolis, a city full of energy, talent, and layered histories. And yet, too often, the kinds of stories that speak to lived experience—stories of struggle and triumph, healing and transformation—go untold or unseen. We wanted to change that.

So we created something more than a screening.

Reels & Roots is a gathering. A pause. A reimagining.

Every event features a powerful film and a live conversation with the creatives behind it. We partner with local changemakers, artists, and community leaders to make sure the experience doesn’t end when the credits roll. It grows. It roots. It stays with you.
