Beyond The Block

BEYOND offers an intimate look inside Sing Sing, one of America's best-known maximum-security prisons.

The documentary follows incarcerated men as they prepare for "Beyond the Block," a TED-style public speaking symposium where they share personal narratives involving redemption, vulnerability, identity, and systemic change.

The film follows their journey from auditions through their eventual moments on stage and explores what can happen when people are given space to tell their own stories.

Following the screening, join a community-centered conversation and audience Q&A with Director/Producer Asia Johnson, alongside Dr. Russell Ledet and Raymond Muti'a Powell of Reels & Roots. Light refreshments will be served.
